Cohabitation: The Informal Engagement

It used to be tradition that the married couple would move in together on the eve of their wedding, but nowadays it's quite common for couples to live together long before the engagement is ever discussed: this is called "cohabitation".

From a new ongoing national study, it's clear that at least 50-60% who get married today are living with each other prior to their wedding, and at least 70% of young adults (ages 20-24) will cohabitate.

More on this national study can be found in an article written by Sharon Jayson here: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-07-08-living-together_N.htm
